But seriously, if you don’t want to be kicked out, DO NOT say the word “melon.” The game interprets it as a sexual reference and Trip will ask you to leave. You can say the most ludicrous things you want, and they will react in absolute shock or confusion. The game actually is more fun to play if you aren’t trying at all. You can compliment them to make them happier, insult them to make them angry or surprised, or you could just utter the word “melon” and be kicked out of the apartment. The player types character-limited phrases, and then says them to the two by pressing ‘Enter.’ How far you get in the game all depends on how you make the characters feel during the evening. Now is supposed to be the time that I’d go over mechanics, but in Façade, there are actually almost zero to speak of other than talking to Trip and Grace. There is background music as it gets dramatic, and it works perfectly for setting the mood. As for art, it’s fairly amateurish 3D graphics, combined with 2D clip art for the liftable props of the game.
They sound like an actual married couple. In terms of audio, there actually isn’t much music in the game other than the voice acting, which is incredibly natural and realistic. Sometimes, you’ll even forget you’re talking to a computer. Depending on what you say to Grace and Trip, they will react differently. It’s a very innovative game that relies almost entirely on the player and the characters’ AI. The object of the game is to reconcile the couple and leave on a happy note. You’re at their apartment for drinks, and as the evening continues, the awkwardness ensues. You play as an old friend of married couple Trip and Grace, who have just had a big fight. Flirting with her will cause Trip to get angry at the player.Because this game is so simple, and not much is able to be said about it, this review will be a bit shorter than usual.įaçade doesn’t really have much of a plot.Comically if you tell her that you need to use the bathroom, she will just stare at you in shock or sometimes become confused.Comically when she asks the player how is he/she doing if the player answers that he/she is doing bad, she may sometimes respond with "that's good" this is thought to be a bug.Due to an AI bug she sometimes walks trough the wall when exiting the kitchen. She is 30 years old, meaning she was 20 when she married Trip. There is a hard to obtain ending in which nothing changes and they still fight.
If the protagonist gets Trip and Grace to work everything out and stay together or they politely tell the player to leave and work everything out themselves. If the protagonist gets Grace to reveal things, she will leave Trip, or if Trip reveals things, he will leave Grace, obtaining the other bad endings. If the protagonist says something absurd about Grace, Trip will physically remove you from the apartment, obtaining the bad ending. Since Trip despises the idea of having an artist wife, Grace paints in secret. She is a frustrated artist, always attempting to become successful but is never really satisfied with her works. She went to the same college as Trip and the player. When Grace was growing up, she was spoiled and given everything she had wanted. She has blue eyes to match with her top, like her husband Trip. She is 30 years of age, has short dark brown hair, and has a blue top with grey trousers.
